Overview – Wildlife Tour (Bird Watching)
Pakistan has a broad range of wildlife, including freshwater lakes, ice-capped mountains, the world’s largest glaciers, deserts, and a 1,000-kilometer coastline. This region is home to a diverse population of bird species. Pakistan is not well-equipped for bird-viewing activities in general, and there are no scheduled birding excursions. The sites listed below are suggested for safe birding.
The bird-watching season lasts all year, but winter is especially enjoyable since a diverse range of birds from Siberia visit Pakistan’s wetlands and plains. During the summer, visitors can visit Northern Pakistan’s high-altitude mountain valleys to observe the region’s unique bird species. Chitral, Gilgit Valley, Deosai National Park, Baltistan, Hunza Valley, Khunjerab National Park, and the Nanga Parbat trekking area are well-known for their unusual bird populations. These sites have plenty of facilities for people interested in bird viewing. Other noteworthy locations are Chiltan National Park in Hazar Ganji, Ayubia National Park, Margalla Hills, and Kirthar National Park.
