Itinerary – Tour of Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Taxila (03 Days)

The itinerary for three days tour of Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Taxila is given below.

Day 1: Explore Islamabad

  • Morning
  1. Start your day (9am) by visiting Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in Pakistan and one of the largest in the world. It has a unique design that blends traditional Islamic architecture with modern styles. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and take some great photos.
  2. Next, head to the Lok Virsa Museum, which showcases the cultural heritage of Pakistan. The museum has an impressive collection of artifacts, including traditional handicrafts, jewelry, and clothing. Take a guided tour to learn more about the exhibits.
  • Afternoon
  1. After the museum, it’s time for lunch. Head to Monal Restaurant, located on top of the Margalla Hills, which offers breathtaking views of Islamabad. The restaurant serves a variety of Pakistani and continental dishes.

Day 2: Explore Rawalpindi

  • Morning
  1. Visit the Raja Bazaar, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Rawalpindi.
  2. Explore the nearby Murree Road Bazar up to Saddar.
  • Afternoon
  1. Take a walk through the historic Saddar Bazaar, which offers a glimpse into the city’s colonial past.
  2. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, which offers a variety of Pakistani and international cuisine.
  3. Visit the the railway station near Saddar.
  4. Take a stroll in the Ayub National Park, a beautiful park offering a peaceful escape from the city.
  • Evening
  1. Explore and enjoy dinner at the Rawalpindi Food Street, a foodie’s paradise, offering a variety of local and traditional dishes.
  2. Drop at your destination

Day 3: Explore Taxila

  • Morning
  1. Drive to Taxila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located just outside Islamabad.
  2. Visit the Taxila Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Gandhara art and artifacts.
  • Afternoon
  1. Explore the archaeological sites of Taxila, including the ancient Buddhist monasteries and stupas.
  2. Visit the Jaulian Monastery, one of the most well-preserved sites in Taxila.
  • Evening
  1. Short visit the Khanpur Lake, a scenic spot for boating and picnicking.
  2. Head back to Islamabad and enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant.
