Overview – Pisang Peak Climbing
Pisang Mountain is a magnificent and reasonably symmetrical mountain in the Annapurna area, with a steady ascent along a well-defined ridge to the summit. Pisang Peak, at 6091m, is the most popular hiking peak in the Annapurna area, and while most people can climb it, it is not without difficulty or effort.
This peak is best suited to people with prior climbing expertise since there are challenging aspects to struggle with. The quick elevation rise from Pisang village to the summit of Pisang Peak takes its toll, but we’ve planned a good schedule with two acclimatization days before the summit to help reduce the danger of altitude sickness.
We approach the top from the mountain’s West Ridge. Before climbing to the summit, we will set up a base camp at 4380m and a high camp at 5200m to relax and acclimatize appropriately. The trek from the base camp is a difficult rise across mixed terrain. The path to the summit from high camp includes a tricky rock segment, with the highest half consisting of steep and fairly exposed ice and snow slopes (55°).
The peak offers a magnificent perspective of the Annapurna massif, which stretches from Annapurna II 7979m to Gangapurna 7454m.
