Itinerary – North Tajikistan Tour

The itinerary for the North Tajikistan Tour is given below.

On this Day

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by sightseeing in Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe. Lunch in the typical Toka teahouse. Dinner at Yakkachinar restaurant, with traditional music and dance performances. Accommodation at the  Hotel.

On this Day

Travel across the Varzob Valley to reach Saratog Lake. We'll walk around the lake before staying at the Shakhboz Hotel in Saratog Hamlet. Dinner and overnight stay in the guesthouse.

After breakfast, we head to the Penjikent region. We arrive at Gazza village, where we will have lunch at the guesthouse. When you get to the village, you can rest at the guesthouse or go on a walk to explore it. Accommodation in the guesthouse.

 

On this Day

Breakfast at the homestay. Drive to Panjakent City. Today we'll have an interesting day in Panjakent. Panjakent was a large city. The Sogdians established it in the fifth century AD. We'll visit the Rudaki Historic-Ethnographic Museum and the Ancient Panjakent Settlement. We plan to visit the local bazaar and mosque. After lunch in a typical Chaikhana, we will explore the ruins of Panjakent, an ancient city.

On this Day

Our day adventure will begin with a rocky ride into the mountains to explore the Seven Lakes. This mountain valley is not far from Penjikent, but due to poor road conditions, the journey takes a full day.

We'll drive up the valley to the sixth lake. The seventh and highest lake, Hazorchashma, is reached after a short and simple two-hour climb (in both directions). There will be time to admire the scenery and wander around the lakeshore before hiking back down to the sixth lake and returning to Penjikent via road. On the way down, we'll take a walk through a few towns and eat lunch at a guesthouse in Noffin.

On this Day

It's time to leave the mountains and return to urban life in Khujand, Northern Tajikistan's capital. Khujand is located in the Fergana Valley, beside the Syr Darya River.

Khujand is a historic city whose history dates back to Cyrus the Great and Alexander the Great. On the route, we'll stop by Istaravshan, a city founded by Cyrus the Great in the sixth century BC that recently celebrated its 2500th anniversary.

On the way, we'll pass through Istaravshan, where artists are highly valued throughout Central Asia, and the city is still well-known in Tajikistan for its blacksmiths, who handcraft blades of exceptional quality. We will arrive in the evening and check into the hotel.

On this Day

After breakfast, we'll head to Khujand's main market, Panjshabe Bazaar, Tajikistan's largest bazaar. Our city tour will continue with visits to the Maslihaddin Mosque, the Lenin Monument, and the Arbob Cultural Palace, as well as a small factory producing traditional Tajik fabrics.

We'll eat lunch in Anora, a house museum that showcases the traditional Tajik style and provides an authentic experience. The welcoming family members like interacting with visitors from other cultures and sharing their experiences.

After lunch, we head to our final destination, the Khujand Atlas women's factory. Khujand Atlas was a leading textile plant that used silk to produce traditional Atlas textiles. During our visit, we will get an intimate look at the manufacturing process and learn about the factory's history and importance in the local economy. We will also be able to purchase some of the lovely Atlas products as keepsakes. Following that, we will head for Tashkent, which will take around 3 hours by automobile.
