Day 02: Drive to Phaphat (Tangir Valley)
On this Day
Depart Chillas around 7:00 am for the two-and-a-half-hour drive to Tangir Valley via Besham Road. The drive through rocky mountain scenery and along the Indus River provides a glimpse of Gilgit-Baltistan's raw splendor. Spend some time touring Phaphat, a village in Tangir Valley, and talking with the inhabitants. Spend the night camping or staying at a local guesthouse in Phaphat.
Day 03: Gichher Sar Lake Trek

Start the walk around 6:00 am to take advantage of the chilly morning temperatures. The trek to Gichher Sar Lake is around 8 to 10 kilometers long and includes a hard ascent through alpine meadows, rocky outcrops, and patches of woodland. The trip lasts around 7 to 8 hours and provides beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and valleys as you approach the lake, which is located at an elevation of approximately 11,700 feet. Set up camp beside the lake and enjoy the peaceful ambiance, with the beautiful waters and alpine backdrop giving the ideal finale to a difficult day.
Day 04: Gichher Sar Lake to Tangir Valley

Wake up early to watch the dawn over the lake, which casts a lovely glow on the water and surrounding mountains. After breakfast, begin your descent back to Tangir Valley, retracing your journey along the same track. The descent is faster, although caution is still required, particularly in steeper areas. Expect to arrive at Tangir Valley by late afternoon, giving you enough time to rest and recover from the hike. Spend another night camping or staying at a hostel in the village.
Day 05: Return to Islamabad
On this Day
On the final day, exit Tangir Valley around 6:00 am and begin the drive back to Islamabad. Retrace your steps through Tangir Valley, Chillas, and Babusar Top, taking time to stretch and enjoy the surroundings. The drive will take the majority of the day, with an expected arrival in Islamabad around 8:00-9:00 pm. End your vacation with recollections of stunning scenery and the challenge of discovering one of Pakistan's lesser-known sites.
