Tatara Park
Tatara Park, located in Peshawar’s upscale Hayatabad neighborhood, offers tourists a look into the city’s modern lifestyle. The recreational park, which is a popular gathering place for locals and people from nearby communities, has an artificial lake. The park also contains various lawns, which are perfect for youngsters to play on. A mini-train in the park is a popular attraction, including many rides for both adults and children. Boats are available on the lake, and there is plenty of parking space.
Peshawar Zoo
Peshawar Zoo, a recent addition to the city, debuted in 2018 and has since become one of the most popular local attractions. The zoo covers 29 acres (11.7 hectares) and is located near the Pakistan Forest Institute. The animals in the zoo were brought from surrounding areas and the city of Lahore. The Lahore Zoo welcomed lions and blackbucks, while a black bear and leopard were brought in from Dhodial Pheasantry and the surrounding mountain village of Nathiagali. The zoo also houses Bengal tigers.
Cunningham Clock Tower
Sir Cunningham Clock Tower is a significant landmark in Peshawar, attracting a large number of tourists. It was created under the British Raj to honor Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee reign, during which she was also known as the “Empress of India.” It was completed in 1900 and named for Sir George Cunningham, the province’s British governor at the time, who also laid the foundation stone in 1898. The clock tower is currently located near a bustling market that has expanded throughout the city.
Jinnah Park
This park was previously known as Cunningham Park when the British dominated the area as part of the Raj. The park was renamed during the partition and the formation of Pakistan. The park’s current name honors Muhammad Ali Jinnah, widely regarded as the “Father of the Nation.” The park is located in the heart of the city, directly across from the Balahisar Fort, which was built during the Durrani Empire’s reign. Visitors to the public park can enjoy the surroundings and the newly created digital fountain, which was installed in 2011.
Saddar Bazar Peshawar
Sadar Bazaar Peshawar is an excellent market where you can buy a wide variety of goods and commodities at cheap prices. Because it is a wholesale market, consumers may buy nearly anything, including clothes, shoes, mobile phones, textiles, street food, jackets, perfumes, pottery, and much more. It is situated in Takhal, Peshawar, Pakistan. Because of the limited parking space, you may struggle to find a spot close. Saddar becomes packed between 12 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. There is hardly any period when there is a slight decrease in crowds here.
Bab-e-Khyber
The Khyber Pass Gate is a well-known landmark that marks the entrance to the famed Khyber Pass. The Khyber Pass was an important component of the Old Silk Road, connecting Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The monument is around 15 km from Peshawar, but believe me, it’s worth the trek. I thought it was one of the nicest things to do in Peshawar, even though it is not *technically* part of the ancient city.
Khyber Charsi Tikka
Do you love food? Here’s a well-known restaurant in Peshawar that is known for its flavor rather than its sight: I can certainly declare that this was the best meal in Pakistan, even though there were numerous runner-ups.
Keep in mind that there are two restaurants in Peshawar called Charsi Tikka, but you want to go to the “Khyber Charsi Tikka”. The long-running restaurant specializes in mutton, with its most famous dish being the most delicious: dumba karahi. Dumba karahi is prepared from a sheep’s huge buttock and tail area, and the fat content is very amazing. All dishes are made to order, so prepare to wait. Nonetheless, the rich flavor of this Peshawari dish is worth the inconvenience. Even months later, I can still taste this dish if I concentrate hard enough!
