Overview – Hunza Day Trip

A Hunza Day Trip provides an excellent opportunity to experience one of Pakistan’s most beautiful and culturally rich valleys, located in the Gilgit-Baltistan area. The tour starts early in the morning from Gilgit, with a magnificent drive down the Karakoram Highway. As you reach Karimabad, the heart of Hunza, the scenery is dominated by towering peaks such as Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar, providing an awe-inspiring background. This valley, recognized for its tranquility and beauty, provides an ideal balance of nature and history that will enchant every visitor.

The excursion includes stops at two historic forts: Altit Fort and Baltit Fort. Altit Fort, built about 900 years ago, affords magnificent views of the Hunza Valley as well as insight into the region’s rich history and culture. Baltit Fort, located just a short drive away, exhibits Hunza’s royal past through its 700-year-old construction. After touring these historical sites, stroll through Karimabad Village, where traditional Hunza dwellings, local businesses, and bustling marketplaces showcase the region’s distinct culture and welcoming hospitality.

The drive continues in the afternoon to the Passu Cones, a breathtaking cluster of pointed peaks that has become one of Pakistan’s most photographed vistas. These stunning mountains, set against a backdrop of glaciers, provide several chances for exploration and photography. If time allows, you can visit Khunjerab Pass, the highest point on the Karakoram Highway and the border between Pakistan and China. After a day of touring, the return drive to Gilgit allows you to contemplate the beauty and history of Hunza, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone who visits.
