Masroor Rock Hike (Day Trip) - Skardu to Skardu

Departure from Skardu

• Begin your day with an early departure from Skardu to ensure you have enough time to complete the walk and enjoy the scenery. Depending on where you are staying, you can begin your adventure in Skardu, Shigar, or Khaplu.
• Drive to Hussainabad: The travel from Skardu to Hussainabad takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Take in the breathtaking alpine scenery and charming valleys as you go. The road leads you via winding roads with views of the neighboring peaks.

The first section of the Hike (with lush greenery and a steep climb)

• The hike begins with a modest rise through thick flora, where you can admire the tranquil meadows and surrounding mountain vistas. This first stretch is relatively easy, enabling you to acclimate to the altitude while seeing the natural beauty of the area. After roughly an hour, the trail grows steeper, requiring more effort to ascend to the Rock. This part presents a more difficult ascent, but the panoramic views of Hussainabad and the surrounding countryside make it worthwhile. As you proceed, the road gets rougher, with the steep ascent bringing you closer to your final destination, Masroor Rock.
• Approaching Masroor Rock: As you climb, the trail flattens out, taking you to the characteristic sloping stone of Masroor Rock. This is the climax of the hike, with magnificent vistas of the lowlands and surrounding mountain ranges.

Exploration of Masroor Rock

• Spend time visiting Masroor Rock, taking in the breathtaking scenery. The rock formation is distinctive and provides a beautiful backdrop for photography. This is also an excellent opportunity to rest, rejuvenate, and appreciate the quiet of the surroundings.

Lunch and Leisure

• Pack a small lunch or snacks to enjoy at Masroor Rock. There are numerous scenic areas where you can sit, rest, and enjoy the views. This break will give you the energy you need for the return trip.
• After resting, resume your trek down the trail. The descent is simpler, but be cautious on the steeper slopes. As you return to the base of the hill, take one more look around.
• Bridge Stopover: On your way back, you will cross a bridge over a gushing spring. This spring is Hussainabad's principal source of water. Take a minute to appreciate the tranquil mood and capture the beauty of the surroundings. Complete the remaining leg of your journey back to the Jeep pickup point. Enjoy the final portion of the voyage as you return to the starting place.

Drive back to Skardu

• Get into the jeep and start driving back to Skardu. The return route provides more opportunities to absorb the beautiful scenery and reflect on your trek.
• Once you return to Skardu, you can either relax and recover or visit neighboring sights such as the Skardu Fort, Shigar Fort, or the lively local markets for gifts.
