Overview – Qaqlasht Festival Tour
Jashan-e-Qaqlasht’ is the northern Chitral people’s old-age festival, which dates back over 2,000 years. Rais monarchs used to organize it in the distant past, which was carried on by the Kator dynasty, which not only patronized this specific cultural event but also fostered other festivals like Jashan-e-Shandur and Jashan-e-Chitral.
The festival is similar to the well-known Shandur Polo Festival in that there are numerous events taking place in stunning scenic locales with out-of-this-world intensity in Chitral’s most remote areas. One such festival takes place in Qaqlasht: the Jashan-e-Qaqlasht, which includes traditional sports and cultural events from the surrounding communities. A flat landscape located around 80 kilometers north of Chitral and accessible via a one-and-a-half-hour journey. When early spring arrives in the valley, this Plateau kind of plain transforms into a beautiful picnic resort with a carpet of grassy and tiny yellow flowers stretching kilometers and miles, attracting a large number of people from various parts of the district and the country.
