Itinerary – Lobuche Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek
The itinerary for Lobuche Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek is noticeable below.
Day 02: Preparation for trek and climbing
Trip preparations in Kathmandu
Day 03: Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2652m/8699ft)
Duration: 3 hours
We'll fly to Lukla at daybreak since the weather is ideal. We'll board a flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Lukla, which takes around half an hour. The route offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, undulating hills, and small towns. We'll eat breakfast at a neighboring teahouse shortly after arriving in town.
We'll stretch out before trekking to Phakding, which is 6.2 kilometers distant. The trek begins in Chaurikharka hamlet with a drop to Dudh Koshi Ghat. The route climbs gently up the hill alongside the Dudh Koshi River, eventually delivering us to Phakding. We will spend the night in a lodge.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283ft)
Duration: 6 hours
We follow the Dudh Koshi, rising through Himalayan pine and cedar woods to the renowned settlement of Namche Bazaar. Namche is a historical trading station where Nepalese and Tibetans exchange salt, dried meat, and textiles.
Aside from being an excellent place to purchase traditional products, Namche is the principal trade town in the Khumbu, attracting Himalayan and lowland merchants. You will spend two days in Namche to acclimatize, tour local markets, and spend time with your teammates. On the walk, we catch our first sight of Everest and the surrounding peaks.
Day 05: Namche Bazar and Everest View Hotel
This day is specifically designated for acclimatization. We will trek to Syangboche Airport (3700m), which is said to be the world's highest airport, and then continue to Everest View Hotel for spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache, and other peaks. On the way back, we stop at the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Everest Photo Gallery.
Day 06: Trek to Tengboche (3860 m/12660 ft)
Duration: 5 hours
The smooth and simple path leads us to the view of Mount Everest, then descends deep into the Dudh Koshi Valley at Pungki Thanka before ascending the right slope of the Dudh Koshi valley to Tengboche Monastery (3860m). It serves as the Khumbu's spiritual center. The journey is long, but it is more than compensated for by breathtaking views of Mount Amadablam and, on a clear day, Mt. Everest and its surrounding peaks.
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4410m/14464ft)
Duration: 5 hours
Descend through a beautiful forest, cross the Imja Khola, and trek through the village of Pangboche (3900m); perhaps today is the most interesting trekking because you will not lose altitude like on other days and will have views of Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse, and other peaks; the route continues through pastures to Dingboche, also known as the summer valley'.
Day 08: Dingboche to Nagerjun (5100m/16728ft)
Duration: 6 hours
This would be your second acclimatization day, requiring around 6 hours of walking to an altitude of 5100m. After breakfast, you approach Nagerjun (5100m), a peak on the Chhukung valley's sides that rises immediately above Dingboche. The primary goal is to ascend high and sleep low. The trail climbs steeper at points, making for a physically demanding day. Ascending the slope at altitude might take up to 5 hours.
Lobuche East (6119m), Lobuche West (6145m), Taboche Peak (6367m), Thamserku (6608m), Kangtega (6685m), and Ama Dablam (6856m) are all visible from this height. On a clear day, you can even see Makalu, the world's fifth-highest peak, as well as the Pheriche Valley below.
After a little respite, you begin your descent down to Dingboche, which takes around 2 hours at altitude. After lunch, take a well-deserved break, as afternoon temperatures may drop swiftly as the sun sets over the mountaintops. You will also spend the second night in Dingboche.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4910m/16105ft)
Duration: 5 hours
Trek over the vast valley floor to Dughla, passing the Trekkers Aid Post at Pheriche (4240 m). This walk is led by Western volunteer physicians and backed by the Himalayan Rescue Association, which provides care and counsel to hikers. Continue up the valley, gaining elevation. We leave the valley and descend to the yak pastures of Lobuche (4910m).
Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17594ft) and return to Gorekshep
Duration: 8 hours
After a brief trek across the meadows, glance down at the Khumbu glacier. Straight ahead lies Kalapattar, the ideal vantage point for seeing Mt. Everest's full south face and neighboring peaks. After a few hours, we will arrive at Gorekshep and continue our trek to the Everest base camp.
There is little height increase, but there are many ups and downs, which, combined with altitude, may make for a tiring climb - but the journey is worthwhile. After around 3 hours of hiking, you will arrive at the base camp with a breathtaking vista of the Khumbu glacier and icefall, where Everest expeditions begin.
Day 11: Trek to Kalapattar (5545m/18218ft), Gorekshep, and Lobuche peak base camp (4910m/16105)
Duration: 6 hours
We climb up to Kalapattar (5545 meters). It is the ideal place to see Mount Everest and the breathtaking Himalayan range. We then return to Gorekshep for a nice breakfast before continuing our descent to Lobuche Base Camp. Overnight in a tent with breakfast, lunch, and supper included.
Pre-Climb Training: After lunch, our guides will instruct you on peak climbing tactics. They teach you how to utilize climbing gear such as an ice axe, climbing boots and crampons, a harness, an ascender, and how to climb and descend using ropes. Prior training is not required for Lobuche Peak Climbing, however, we feel that any training experience will improve your confidence and climbing ability. This increases your chances of successfully scaling the top and completely enjoying the trip.
Day 12: Summit to Lobuche East Peak (6119m/20070ft) and return to Pheriche (4210m/13008ft)
Duration: 10-12 hours
We start climbing Lobuche Peak early in the morning, although it depends on the weather. It takes around 10 hours to reach the peak. The summit offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Tawache, Cholatse, Pumori, Changri, and other peaks. After a safe trek to the summit, we leisurely descend to Pheriche.
Day 13: Contingency day
We cannot guarantee that the weather will remain good on our scheduled summit day (day 12). So, this day is reserved in case we are unable to visit the top on day 12 owing to inclement weather or other circumstances. If the weather turns bad, we should postpone our summit-climbing plans.
Sometimes you or your group members may have difficulty acclimatizing. This day may be utilized in the case. If the journey goes smoothly, we won't need this extra day.
Day 14: Trek to Namche (3440m/11283ft)
Duration: 7 hours
An easy stroll down the Imja Khola, a short ascent to Tengboche, a descent from Pungki Thanka, a sharp climb to Kyangjuma, and an easier track to Namche.
Day 15: Trek to Lukla (2800m/9184ft)
Duration: 7 hours
The journey continues down the Dudh Kosi River to the little mountain airfield at Lukla, where you will catch your aircraft back to Kathmandu.
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu
We bid farewell to Lukla and its breathtaking scenery before flying back to Kathmandu. The ride will last around half an hour and will provide a breathtaking panorama of undulating hills, flowing waterfalls, streams, and a quaint tiny hamlet. As soon as your aircraft arrives at Tribhuvan Airport, our personnel will transport you to your hotel to rest.
Day 17: Leisure day
Spend the day in Kathmandu, either resting or exploring, according to your preferences. Overnight at the hotel with breakfast included.
Day 18: Fly to home country
An Apricot Tours representative will transport you to the airport around 3 hours before your planned departure. If you have extra time, you can go shopping or sightseeing
